Um námskeiðið
This workshop focuses on the application of surface electromyography, SEMG, through assessment and correction of the coordinated interactivity of the trapezius and the serratus anterior. This coordinated interaction forms an essential force couple that enables efficient upward rotation and stabilization of the scapula during arm elevation. Clinicians addressing shoulder dysfunctions need to understand the force couple mechanism and be able to identify and correct dysfunction.
What will I learn?
In this workshop, participants will learn how to assess and interpret SEMG data, identifying
muscle imbalance between the serratus anterior, upper- and lower trapezius. Postural and
movement faults of the scapula, which may indicate imbalance in the scapulothoracic muscles,
will also be addressed. Subsequently, SEMG will be used to explore which exercises and
activation strategies work best to improve the activity of affected muscles, choosing and
maximizing the effect of exercises. Correction using neuromuscular re-education and biofeedback may be used to guide exercise prescription, enhance rehabilitation decision-making, and progression. Emphasis is placed on using SEMG as a practical tool in rehabilitation settings, addressing shoulder dysfunction as well as in preventive training in sports.
This course is for clinicians addressing shoulder dysfunctions and those interested in preventive
training in sports.
Why choose this workshop?
- Learn practical applications for the shoulder
- Identifying muscle imbalance around the Scapula.
- Explore exercise and muscle activation strategies
- Practical applications of sEMG in the clinic
